NaNoWriMo-> Well I thought since I joined last year that I would actually try to do it this year. I signed up in 2012 November and tried to write a 50k word novel in 30 days but it didnt happen. That story is still sitting on usb stick with only 14k words to it and I havent looked back. I liked writing the story but got lost as to where I really wanted to take it. So now I have started a new story and this one I hope to get to 50k in 30 days and then whatever happens from there, because I didnt get that far before. I don't even really know the point to the site, other than donating money and writing 50k words in 30 days, which is a challenge itself, especially if you have writers block. Which I do, more often than not in a year. This year I have not been able to write much of anything. I have started plenty but never finished and the ones I have finished I just dont feel are good enough or worth the time to edit to pitch to an agent. Plus I think I am a little jaded from my last attempt at getting an agent. Even though they were all very pleasant 'no's'. Just discouraging I guess. I try to follow Anne Rice's advice to write every day no matter what. Whether it's in journal or a blog or a few pages of story you want to get down. Just write. Keep writing and dont stop. Another things that makes her my ALL time favourite Author. I dont think I could idolize anyone as much as I do her.

The main character Lauren is a young woman in her early twenties living in L.A with her boyfriend, who is an editor for a movie production company. Then one night he dies in a fatal car crash. Lauren is grief stricken and blames herself for his death. After living with her survivors guilt for months until she decides its time to move back home to Portland with her mother. Evetually she reunites with old friends. She also meets a very attractive guy who is less than kind to her, but then when no one is watching he looks at her in a way that says he wants her. As the story progresses some events unfold along the way and I dont want to spoil to much of it right now. It has a supernatural element to it as well.
I hope with NaNoWriMo and it's published Author reputation I can make the cut next time around. I want to see my name on the list of success stories.
